WHAT IS FINE ARTS?
Fine Arts is designed to help students discover, develop, and deploy their ministry gifts. Every year, over 65,000 students across the US prepare entries for District and National Fine Arts Festivals. Our goal with Fine Arts is simple : I Corinthians 14:12 - “Since we are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church”. We want to see our students use their gifts to build up the church.
WHEN, WHERE, HOW MUCH?
Districts: March 28 & 29, 2025
Carlisle, PA - about $150
Nationals: August 4-8, 2025
Orlando, FL - about $1,300 - $1,500
do i need to do an assessment for choir?
No! Everyone is welcome and encouraged to sign up for choir - no assessment required. Although choir is not mandatory (unless you are on a music team), the majority of our students participate in choir. We have a lot of fun with this category since we can all participate together!
WHEN IS REGISTRATION DUE?
Sign Ups for Fine Arts 2024 will begin on October 15th and end on November 6th.
Students can sign up for Fine Arts at RED services or directly through the Fine Arts 2024-2025 Student Sign Up link. Official registration and payment for Districts will be held in January - date TBA. You must register for Districts if you hope to compete at the National level. Scores from each festival determine if you move on to the next level.
WHAT ARE THE CATEGORIES?
There are over 80 categories offered in 7 main divisions: Arts, Communication, Dance, Drama, Instrumental, Vocal and Writing. For a complete listing of categories and rules, visit www.faf.ag.org.
when are practices?
Practices for group categories will be held on Sunday afternoons at APC from approximately 1:45-5:30 pm. Each team will be assigned a time slot throughout the afternoon. The schedule will be arranged by the leaders after all assessments have been completed in order to avoid schedule conflicts for students in multiple team categories.
HOW DO I JOIN A TEAM?
Assessments are required for ALL students who would like to be part of a group drama or music team. Fine Arts Assessments will be held on Sunday, November 10th at 2:00pm. Students can sign up for assessments by completing the Fine Arts 2024-2025 Student Sign Up. Each student may participate in a maximum of 3 team events (in addition to choir) that rehearse on Sundays. No assessment is required for solo events. There is no limit on how many solo events you may enter.
Students must commit to attend all scheduled weekly rehearsals - December through March to be placed on a team. Students may then re- evaluate their commitment in April if their team qualifies for Nationals.
how do i get started?
All interested students need to fill out the Fine Arts 2024-2025 Student Sign Up by November 6th.
